CND Soldiers
2005
Print on Paper

Banksy is very well known for his active role in speaking out against war and voilent culture. In this image, we can see two soldiers acting as graffiti vandals, painting a peace sign on a wall. The juxtaposition of the roles and the choice of color (bloody red) makes for a great metaphor that criticizes war in a satirical and shocking way.
The image first appeared outside the Houses of Parliament during an anti-war protest led by Brian Haw, an English peace activist who lived for a decade in the Westminster peace camp.
CND Soldiers is a limited-edition silkscreen print released by Pictures on Walls of London in 2005, in an edition of 350 signed, and 350 unsigned prints.
